About Dolly
Meet Our Resilient Beauty: Dolly 🐾 If you are looking for a shadow, a comedian, and a survivor all wrapped in one curly, light-brown package, meet Dolly. At three years old, this 50-pound Standard Poodle is finally living the life she was always meant to have, and she's ready to find the person who will be her "everything." From Survival to Sunshine Dolly's journey didn't start out easy. Before coming to us, she was used as a breeder dog--a life that left her as literal "skin and bones" with a coat that was dull and matted. It was heartbreaking to see her so depleted. But with a whole lot of TLC, good food, and soft beds, Dolly has been loved back to health. Her beautiful light-brown curly coat has come back in thick and soft, reflecting the vibrant spirit she's found within herself. She has healed beautifully and is currently thriving on her journey to being a "real dog." A Personality That Shines Dolly is the definition of sweet and loving. If she had her way, she would be petted 100% of the time, every single day--human attention is her absolute favorite thing in the world! She is: Playful & Funny: Dolly has a goofy side that will keep you laughing. Human-Centric: While she's great with other dogs, she doesn't really rely on them for entertainment. She's a "people person" who looks to her humans for companionship first. A Self-Starter: She is excellent at self-entertaining with toys when you're busy. Life in the House Dolly is a total lady when it comes to house rules--mostly! Potty Trained & Housebroken: She knows exactly where to go and is not a chewer. Your furniture and shoes are safe with her! Crate & Bed Trained: She is crate trained, but if she knows there's no food left out to "hunt," Dolly is the ultimate cuddle bug and sleeps perfectly through the night in the big bed with her humans. Friends with Everyone: She's fine with cats, though if you have a cat that likes to play "tag," she will happily join in on the chase (all in good fun, of course!). Leash Manners: She does well on a leash, though her excitement for life occasionally leads to a little pulling when she sees something interesting. The "Eternal Hunger" (A Work in Progress!) Because Dolly spent so long not knowing when her next meal would come, she has developed what we affectionately call her "Eternal Hunger." This makes her a world-class counter-surfer! She is always on a mission for a snack, a behavior we are working on with positive training. She's just a girl who really, really appreciates a good buffet! Is your home Dolly's forever home? She needs someone who understands her past and will continue to guide her with patience and plenty of ear scratches. In return, you'll get the most loyal, loving companion you've ever known. Dolly is healthy, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative, and spayed.
