Meet Petals, a 9-year-old, 47-pound bundle of pure joy with the most adorable low-rider body, stubby little legs, and a tail that never stops wagging. Don't let her age fool you - this girl has the spirit and enthusiasm of a puppy wrapped up in the wisdom and grace of a seasoned, well-mannered adult. Petals' foster family affectionately compares her to a little pig (in the best possible way!). She makes the most endearing oinking sounds as she sniffs her way through her walks, and her snores at night are nothing short of legendary. Her absolute favorite thing in the world? A good butt scratch. Give her one and she'll lean right into you, her whole body wiggling with pure bliss - it's impossible not to smile. When she's not snuggled up to you, Petals is an independent soul who can entertain herself for hours with a good hard chew toy. She's a vigorous chewer, but has zero interest in being mouthy with people or chewing on furniture. The rest of her day is spent snoozing peacefully by your side or going on leisurely, sniff-filled adventures on leash. On the training front, Petals is a total overachiever. She's fully potty trained, sleeps through the night in her dog bed, knows the commands sit, stay, down, come, and bed, and has zero separation anxiety - will sleep peacefully until you return. She's also excellent and non-reactive on leash! Other dogs, loud noises, busy streets - Petals takes it all in stride. She's even a seasoned road trip companion, having snoozed her way from NYC all the way upstate without a single complaint. Petals is also a wonderful companion to other dogs! She's calm, gentle, and respectful around her canine friends - never pushy or overbearing. She's currently living with a smaller resident dog and the two coexist wonderfully, making her a great candidate for a multi-dog household. Petals came to us through no fault of her own - she was surrendered to the shelter when her previous family was evicted and could no longer keep her. In her former home she lived happily alongside kids, cats, guinea pigs, and rabbits, and was friendly and gentle with everyone. She's truly a lover and deserves nothing more than a forever home where she can shower her people with the same devotion she's always given. Petals would thrive with a family looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who brings all the love and playfulness of a puppy with none of the chaos. She is truly the whole package.
