About Jetson
Meet Our Jetson 🖤 Intake: 1/19/26 Estimated DOB: July 2021 Jetson had been a stray on the southeast side for about two years before finally getting his chance to come inside. When he arrived, he was dealing with significant skin issues that likely began as flea allergy dermatitis. His skin was scaly and scabby—almost like a lizard—but thankfully much softer! 😊 With topical fatty acid supplementation and good care, his coat is already improving and getting back into tip-top shape. For now, he can’t wear a collar, as his fur will fall out where it rubs, but that should improve as his skin continues to heal. Despite everything he had been through, Jetson was SUPER friendly with both his rescuer and all of us at Feline Wellness Center. He also came in with a mild, low-grade anemia, which we are monitoring. Jetson also has an interesting and very rare skeletal condition called pectus excavatum—Latin for “hollow breast.” This condition describes a chest wall deformity where the rib cartilage and sternum (chest bone) do not form correctly during fetal development. It’s sometimes referred to as funnel chest or flat-chested syndrome in kittens. In Jetson’s case, however, he was incredibly lucky. His condition is mild, you can’t tell just by looking at him, and it’s not easily felt during an exam. There is only minimal displacement of the organs in his chest and no respiratory or cardiac complications, meaning it does not affect his quality of life. Jetson is becoming more comfortable with his new surroundings every day. He tends to keep to himself and quietly observe the world around him, but he has never shown any aggression and is a very sweet boy. He can be a little timid at times, so he would likely do best in a calmer, less active home. Older kids who could spend time with him and help him learn that it’s okay to relax, play, and enjoy life might be a wonderful fit. Jetson could do well with a feline friend or two; a home with dogs may not be his ideal match, but one mellow pooch could be considered. Jetson is gentle, handsome, and loves being brushed. Soon his coat will be sleek and shiny again! He’s a pretty laid-back guy who enjoys hanging out up high and absolutely LOVES window watching. Bird TV is one of his favorite programs. All in all, Jetson is a sweet-natured, easygoing boy and an all-around great guy who’s ready for the next chapter of his life.
