Topaz
AvailableTopaz is a medium-sized, male mixed breed with a brown and white medium-length coat. He is an adult who is both house trained and neutered, with vaccinations up to date. Currently living in Vassalboro, ME, Topaz is affectionate and eager for a home where he can feel settled and loved.
About Topaz
Topaz is nearly 3 and weighs between 45 and 50 pounds. He’s had a rough start, but being in rescue has brought out his hope and resilience. For over a year, he’s watched other dogs leave, waiting for his own turn. Topaz is crate and house trained, but having spent a lot of life in kennels, he’ll need some help re-adjusting to home rhythms. On walks, he handles a leash but can pull—a bit of patience and structure will go a long way, as he picks things up quickly and likes to learn. People are Topaz’s favorite thing, and he’s eager to join in with everything you do. While friendly and loving, he’s still figuring out how to navigate the canine social scene, so he’s best as the only dog or with someone who’s experienced at introducing dogs safely. He’s not a good fit for homes with small kids, since he guards his food. He isn’t compatible with cats either. Despite being overlooked, Topaz is full of affection—he just needs someone willing to see him. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Topaz
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
As a mixed breed dog, Topaz adapts well to a variety of living environments, though he thrives best in a home with consistency, patience, and space for regular activity.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Topaz, like most mixed breed dogs of his size, benefits from having a yard or regular walks for exercise, but he can do well in homes without large outdoor spaces as long as he gets adequate physical and mental stimulation.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Topaz is more suitable for homes without small children, especially since he prefers his food left alone. Older, respectful kids may be considered if given proper boundaries.
