About Trey
Meet Trey, a stocky, gray-blue American Staffordshire Terrier with a tongue that forever peeks out, and a heart that never fully wavers. Trey's nine years old, but he doesn’t act it—he bounces with energy and curiosity, then crashes into deep naps on the nearest couch. His favorite routine? Running with dog friends, then forming a cuddle pile with anyone who will have him. Trey is utterly people-focused, greets everyone like an old pal, and thrives in a pack, especially with dogs his own size or larger. Trey’s been through difficult times. He arrived at the rescue with gunshot wounds and two broken legs, yet he stayed gentle and trusting. Sometimes he flinches if a hand approaches quickly, but he relaxes with a soft touch and melts into affection. He’s fully housetrained, solid on basic commands, and needs a fenced yard without too much foot traffic from neighboring dogs—he gets stirred up if he spots dogs through a fence. He’s friendly with other dogs, but not tested with cats, and would do best in a home with adults or older kids only. Trey is vaccinated, on flea and tick prevention, and just finished heartworm treatment with follow-up still required. He’s fostered in Huntsville, AL, but for the right match, his foster will travel up to 200 miles. Trey’s spent long enough waiting.
