About Kona
Click apply to start the adoption process. Lakona (Kona) came to rescue after his previous owners could not afford the medical care he urgently needed. Thanks to surgery to remove a cloth foreign body and follow-up procedures, he’s now thriving and recovering beautifully in his foster home in the Austin area. Kona is a gentle and very friendly 1.5-year-old boy with a medium tricolor coat. While he may take a moment to warm up to new faces, once his trust is earned, Kona gives his heart completely. He’s affectionate with people, loves all the dogs he meets, and is great with cats too. He especially flourishes when he has a confident canine companion, and while he’s still shy in new situations alone, his loving personality always shines through. He’s fully crate-trained, past the chewing phase with bedding and plush toys, and loves to show off his basic commands like sit, down, crate, heel, and come. Kona is fabulous on leash and off, always wanting to stick close to his people, and will delight you with his goofy zoomies—though he might accidentally knock over little kids with his exuberant play. Kona is a classic velcro dog searching for a fun and playful fur-friend as well as a dedicated family ready to continue building his confidence. Currently, Kona is being fostered in San Antonio, TX, but is adoptable to homes in several major cities in the PNW, Midwest, and NE, with an adoption fee of $300 and an additional $150 transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.
