About Howie
Meet Howie, a Cane Corso mix with a quiet nature and a gentle spirit. At around 10 months old, Howie came in with four littermates, and it's clear early socialization was missing from his start. Because of this gap, he’s extremely timid and gets easily overwhelmed by new faces or situations. Give him patience and he’ll reward you: there’s a kind, sensitive dog beneath the shyness, just starting to open up. Howie needs someone calm—a person with time and empathy to let him settle in and build up his confidence at his own speed. Slow introductions and steady routines will go a long way with him. Right now, he’s set to be neutered soon, and the hope is for him to have a home lined up so his next phase is full of stability and gentleness. He’s in the Pittsburgh area and looking for the safe space that will allow his personality to emerge. If you’re willing to help a shy pup find his bearings, Howie could be the right fit for you. Questions about Howie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Howie, as a Cane Corso and Mastiff mix, is best suited to a calm and spacious home, ideally with a predictable routine. These breeds thrive in environments where they have both room to move and a secure place to retreat when feeling unsure.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Large breeds like Howie benefit from access to a securely fenced yard or regular walks in open spaces. He doesn’t need endless acres, but having some space to stretch and sniff is important for his health and confidence.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Cane Corso mixes can be very loyal and gentle, but since Howie is timid and sensitive, he may do better in a quieter home. Calm, older children who respect his space are a better match than a busy household with young kids.
