About Jose Cuervo
Jose Cuervo Jose Cuervo is a 6-month-old, 11-pound male terrier mix who recently made the journey from Mexico to the NYC area! This playful, sweet, and silly pup has quickly been adjusting to life with his foster family in Weehawken. Jose has a fun personality and loves spending time with his people. You can often find him playing with his foster family, sneaking off with a sock, or curling up on the couch for a cozy cuddle session. His favorite toy is a classic Lamb Chop, and he's always happy to settle in with it after some playtime. Jose is a smart young pup who is already learning the basics. He's doing well with “sit” and is continuing to work on other obedience skills. Like many young dogs, he's still working on house training. He currently prefers using pee pads and sometimes forgets to go during walks, but with consistency and routine he continues to make progress. On leash, Jose is doing well overall. He can sometimes be timid or easily distracted, especially when encountering new things or other dogs, so his forever family should be ready to continue helping him build confidence out in the world. Jose loves being close to his people and thrives on companionship. He is currently working on crate training and is able to sleep in his crate at night when his foster family is nearby. Because he's still adjusting, he can have some separation anxiety when left alone during the day, so his future family should be patient and willing to continue helping him build independence. Jose would do well with a moderately active family that can balance playtime, walks, and plenty of snuggles. He could thrive as a solo dog soaking up all the attention, or potentially with another calm dog who can help show him the ropes. Because he can be a little shy and reactive on walks, a home with older children would be the best fit. With continued structure, patience, and love, Jose Cuervo is sure to blossom into a confident and devoted companion. Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention. To apply to adopt Jose Cuervo, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application.
