Meet our adorable little pup named Coconut! Coconut is about 1.5 years old and she came to our shelter after she was found roaming in town at night all alone. She is a small mixed breed dog, who weighs about 16 lbs, that that looks like she could be Shiba Inu mixed with Chihuahua. Coconut was petrified when she first came to our shelter, but then we learned she absolutely loves treats and that was the way to her heart. When Coconut likes someone, she bonds to them very closely. She is a quirky dog who will need time and patience when going into new situations. She is very outgoing and happy when she is comfortable, but she is very frightened of strangers. She loves tennis balls and it's so funny to watch her bounce around chasing them. We are looking for an adult only home that has experience with owning dogs for Coconut to go to. No first time dog owners please. She is very playful with other dogs and it may be helpful for her to go into a home with a doggie friend to show her the ropes. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME.
