Merida is a 4-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix with big personality and ears that have a style of their own—standing up straight, but not quite like the classic shepherd. She’s got a gentle, polite approach when taking treats and is especially motivated by snacks rather than toys. Merida already knows how to sit and shows off solid leash manners. Volunteers have found her eager to learn and quick to pick up on new tricks—she mastered “focus” in less than half an hour. Merida can be a little nervous around certain dogs or in busy spaces, so she’s searching for a calmer home environment. However, she has a social side and genuinely enjoys meeting new people, making her an ideal companion for someone who has friends over. While she does well with larger dogs when introduced at her pace, Merida isn’t a fit for homes with cats.
