About Freya
***NOTE: This pet is currently at the shelter in Republic, WA, and can be delivered to an approved adopter on our 3/14/26 adopted pet transport to Monroe, WA to begin a 30-day trial placement – part of our distance adoption program.*** Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Meet Freya, an affectionate and playful young girl (born 8/23/25) who is absolutely ready to fill your home with joy and high-energy fun. Freya, a Bernese/Mastiff mix (with possibly a little Rhodesian Ridgeback thrown in there) is the ultimate companion for someone looking for a fun-loving dog who absolutely loves to be petted, adored, and receive plenty of attention, though she may occasionally pivot to the next exciting thing when something else grabs her attention. Although not obvious in her video, her favorite pastime is actually playing fetch, or more accurately, the exhilarating chase-the-ball part of playing fetch, followed by a well-deserved, long, and satisfying chew on a cow bone. While she is a 50# puppy with high, enthusiastic energy, she is also a sweetheart who is learning about the world. She can be a little skittish when it comes to new or unfamiliar noises, but she has shown remarkable resilience and has adjusted very nicely and quickly since arriving at the shelter. She is mostly housetrained (though will need reinforcement for this training during her first few weeks in a new location. She finds other dogs to be a bit overwhelming, with the exception of her sister Boudica, so would prefer to be the only dog in the family. Freya is very interested in kitties; she is not cat-aggressive and would simply need a slow, structured introduction to feline friends to ensure everyone feels comfortable. She will require a little patience during her first weeks with a new family, while she learns she is safe and home at last. Thankfully, Freya is very fond of treats, so it should be easy to win her over quickly in her new home. With her sweet nature and love for activity, Freya is looking for a patient, loving family to help her continue to build confidence and be an amazing, cherished part of their lives. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Freya is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
