About Wes Athens
We’re not quite sure what breed mix Wes is, but one thing we do know — he’s adorable. This cute, chunky guy is currently about 51 lbs and could definitely stand to lose a few pounds (his ideal weight is probably closer to 40), but that just means there’s more of him to love while he works on getting into beach-body shape. Wes was rescued from Georgia after being surrendered by his owner, where life isn’t always kind to animals. Despite the change in his life, he’s remained a friendly and easygoing boy. Wes knows his name, enjoys squeaky toys, and loves spending time with his people. His former owner described him as a “playful couch potato,” which honestly sums him up perfectly — he’s happy to have some fun but also very content relaxing nearby. Wes is house trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to the right home. Wes does have a high prey drive for squirrels and rabbits, so he likely would not do well living with cats. He does well with other dogs and older kids. Wes is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines, and he’s ready to find a home that will help him stay active, loved, and maybe drop a few of those extra pounds along the way.
