About Koa Bear
This gentle giant malamute was found neglected and starving up alone in the mountains several months ago. Word was he had been in the area over a year! An amazing family took the time to catch him and bring him to our rescue. He was severely underweight for his build (but still weighed in at a whopping 90 pounds). Under the loving care of the rescue and veterinary staff he has made a complete recovery! Weighing in now at over 110 pounds, and with all his medical done, Koa Bear is finally ready for his forever home! He is great with cats, and he LOVES kids! This gentle giant is sure to turn heads anywhere you go because he is seriously just a big teddy bear with people. He has yet to meet a person he doesn't like, and he is the biggest love. He can be dog selective. So if you have other dogs you need to be savy about reading the energy and being able to tell if Koa needs a break. He socializes here fantastic, but he has his limits, usually drawing the line at other dominant dogs or puppies jumping in his face. He also can resource guard his food and needs help to get over this. He has gotten a lot better, but still can show these tendencies at times. Lastly, he NEEDS a home with a secure fence. He is an escape artist, whether it be stuffing himself through small gaps or climbing shorter spots. He absolutely needs a good, secure fence to keep him in. He is house trained, but also loves to spend most of his day in the cool outside air. As a malamute, he will definitely be vocal about when he wants to go back out.
