Dixie is a tiny Chihuahua mix puppy who currently weighs just 4 pounds. She is about 4 months old and is truly a very petite little dog. Based on her current size and age, we estimate she may mature somewhere in the 6 to 8 pound range, though she could potentially stay even smaller. Dixie’s story started off a bit rough. She was found abandoned and, shortly after rescue, tested positive for Parvovirus. Because of her young age and very small size, she required immediate veterinary care including hospitalization, IV fluids, antibiotics, and supportive treatment. Thankfully, Dixie proved to be a little fighter. She made a full recovery and is now healthy, happy, and ready to find a loving home. Dixie is a sweet and affectionate puppy who enjoys being close to her people. She tends to follow her humans around and loves to curl up in a lap or tuck into your arms for a nap. Like most puppies, she also has playful moments and enjoys running around and having short bursts of energy. She gets along well with other dogs and would likely do well in a home with another friendly small dog to play with and learn from. Because Dixie is so small and delicate, we are looking for a home with children approximately 12 years or older, or an adult-only household. Her future family will need to be mindful of her size and help keep her safe. Dixie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and has been cleared by the vet for adoption.
