Hi… I’m Birdie 🐾 I’m an estimated 5-year-old Pug with the cutest little face and the biggest heart, and I’m searching for a family who will love me as much as I’ll love them. You might notice right away that I look a little different from other pugs you’ve seen. My coat has a unique pattern sometimes called “Panda” or “Koi.” The humans helping me think it’s because I’m a double merle, which makes my coloring extra special. I still have sight and get around just fine—I’m very good at finding my people and the coziest spot right next to them. I might have some hearing differences, or I might even be completely deaf. Loud sounds don’t really grab my attention like they do for other dogs… but you know what does? **Love.** And I give it back tenfold. 💕 If you’re looking for a velcro dog, I’m your girl. My favorite thing in the whole world is being close to my people—following you around the house, curling up beside you on the couch, or nestling in for a good snuggle. After everything I’ve been through, being loved is truly my favorite thing. Before I was rescued, it looks like I may have had several litters of puppies, and I was found as a stray. Somehow, through it all, I’ve stayed the sweetest, most gentle girl. I’m very submissive and easy-going, and I get along wonderfully with other dogs, kids, and even cats. Every once in a while I get a little spunky burst of playfulness, but most of the time I’m focused on where you are so I can be close by. I walk nicely on a leash, do well going outside for potty breaks, and I sleep quietly in my crate at night (though if I had my way, I’d be snuggled up right next to you). We can't call me 100% housebroken yet, but I'm really good on a schedule with routine breaks. Oh—and I’ve recently discovered doggie stairs so I can climb up onto the couch. I’m pretty sure those should be a permanent feature in my forever home. It’s where the best cuddles happen. My body is still recovering from a recent litter, and I’ll need to be spayed soon, but I’m already soaking up the comfort and care I’ve been missing. The people caring for me keep saying that whoever adopts me is going to be very, very lucky. I just know I’m ready to give someone my whole heart.
