About Porky Pig

Adoptable Dog Porky Pig (affectionately called “Pig”) is a 2-year-old, 23-pound French Bulldog (Frenchie) who’s as unique and lovable as they come. We call him a “Dachshund Wanna-be” as he is obviously, not a dachshund, but don’t tell him that! True to his name, Porky Pig is known for his adorable snorts and snuffles that make everyone around him smile. But beyond the cute noises, this boy is full of love, resilience, and joy to share. Special Needs: Pig is considered paralyzed in his hind end. He does have some feeling and tries to get his legs under him (sometimes) to walk a bit. We continue to work with his legs and help him build up/keep the muscles strong in hopes he will continue to improve. He uses a wheelchair on rough surfaces outside but is very happy (and pretty fast) dragging around inside and on soft surfaces outside. Pig wears a belly band inside as he does not always know when he is using the restroom. When he was at a vacation foster he had access to outside whenever he wanted and the foster noticed him going out back to going pee. If given access to go out when he wants he may gain a bit of control back in that area as well but nothing is certain. He currently gets his bladder released 3 times a day, followed by a quick clean-up to keep him fresh and healthy. He is very good about allowing the release and application of his belly band! He will need a forever family who’s patient and willing to learn what works best for him and them. Pig gets along wonderfully with other dogs—he’s happy to gently play if they want to or leave them be if they prefer their space. He especially loves big dogs! Pig is also great with kids; he currently lives with children (ages 5 and 7) who respect dogs’ boundaries, and he’s done very well with them. While we haven’t seen him with cats, his easygoing nature suggests he may do just fine. Pig makes it easy with his laid-back, happy-go-lucky personality. He: Sleeps quietly in his kennel (and enjoys his comfy dog bed). Is neutral in the car and doesn’t bark excessively. Shows no signs of separation anxiety, fear of thunder, or food/toy aggression. Loves meeting new people and dogs—he’s friendly, not shy, and always ready for attention! Pig is also discovering the joy of toys and playtime, especially with his foster sister. He’s equally content snuggling up for a rest after some fun. Vetting and Medical In our care, Pig has received a vet check, dental exam, vaccines, nail trimming, and flea preventatives. He is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered. He was fully evaluated by a specialist to see if surgery was an option and we were advised that it isn’t in his best interest. Medical Donations We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you! This sweet boy is looking for a forever family who can embrace his special needs while giving him all the love and attention he craves. Bladder expression is needed 3 x daily. In return, Pig will shower you with loyalty, charm, and snuggly companionship. Adoption Fee: $150. If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it. *Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit. The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
