MARIA had a home, but due to financial issues, the family had to give her up. Fortunately, the shelter was able to work with the family and was able to find space for MARIA and her siblings. MARIA is not happy with her present situation, but she is making the best of it. She does like pets but is not happy with the other cats around her. Although MARIA is young, she was the oldest in her former home and she was the boss! She is not sure she wants to associate with the other cats in the room, so she is hiding when she can. MARIA was in a home with older children, so she may be happier and adjust quicker in a home with children over 12 and given her nervous nature, she would prefer to be the only cat. She has no experience with dogs, but perhaps she'd adapt to a non-aggressive dog. MARIA is a beautiful, medium/long haired orange/white girl who has lost the only home she knew and the siblings she had apparently accepted. Now she's in a room with many strange cats and strangers coming and going. It seems MARIA is a bit over-whelmed by it all. Her former family told us she likes attention and will sleep in laps. She is not a fan of being picked up, but she might snuggle a bit on a lap or in bed! Every cat in the shelter has a story, but we often do not know what they have experienced. MARIA came from an active household; she is now in an active place, and she is not a fan of chaos. Perhaps if she were to go home to a calm, quiet household, MARIA could fine the peace she seems to need and can then trust that she is finally safe, loved and will be forever!
