Rooney is a 3-year-old, 14lb little guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart!!! After coming from a hoarding situation, he’s still learning the ropes of home life, but he’s already proving what a loyal and loving companion he can be. Rooney bonds quickly with his person and likes to keep close tabs on them. One of his favorite hobbies? Perching on the back of the couch like a tiny lookout, watching the neighborhood activity and keeping an eye out for squirrels and birds!!! He’s making great progress with potty training and is learning that outside is the place to go, though he still uses a pee pad inside while he’s figuring things out. Following his foster’s older dog around the yard has helped him pick up some good habits! Rooney is also very food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. Once he feels comfortable, Rooney’s playful, high-energy side really comes out! He would likely enjoy having a dog friend who’s tolerant of his enthusiasm and enjoys a playful companion. He doesn’t mind wearing a leash but can still be a little nervous about loud road noises, so continued patience and encouragement will help build his confidence. Because of his past, crates are very stressful for him, and he currently prefers sleeping close to his person. Rooney can be a bit of a velcro dog and may cry when his person leaves, but toys and distractions help him settle! What he really wants is someone who will give him time to feel safe and loved.
