Shaggy is a sweet little guy who came to the MSPCA after being transferred from an overwhelmed shelter in South Carolina, where he had been found as a stray. Like many dogs who have been through a lot of change, Shaggy can be a bit sensitive at first. He prefers to take things at his own pace, but once he feels comfortable, his affectionate side really shines. Shaggy enjoys sniffy walks with his handlers, tasty treats (he’s not picky!), and spending time with well-matched dog friends. When he chooses to come over for attention, he loves gentle pets and quiet snuggles. Shaggy is looking for a patient adopter who understands that building trust takes time. Giving him space to settle in and letting him choose when to interact will help him feel safe and confident in his new home. He may need help learning some basics like house training and polite leash manners, and he can be a bit chatty when he’s excited or wants attention. With positive reinforcement training, a sense of humor, and plenty of enrichment, Shaggy has the potential to grow into a wonderful companion.
