About Marilyn Monroe
** This is an Out Of Town listing. We transport to the city on this listing. Please apply at www.bit.ly/mu-adopt ** Meet Marilyn Monroe! Marilyn wasn’t part of the plan. But sometimes the dogs who find their way into rescue are the ones we were meant to meet all along. Two of our volunteers were out trying to catch another stray dog when they discovered Marilyn tucked away in a crawl space, fiercely protecting her tiny, days-old puppies. She was scared, thin as a shadow, and completely unapproachable. And honestly? Who could blame her. She had a bunch of fragile lives depending on her. Marilyn had to be humanely trapped — not because she was aggressive, but because she was a devoted mother doing the only thing she knew: protecting her babies. That moment could have been the end of her story. Instead, it was the beginning of a beautiful transformation. With safety, food, and gentle care, Marilyn slowly realized she didn’t have to fight anymore. The worried mama who once kept her distance has blossomed into the sweetest, softest snuggle bug you could imagine. Proof that love, patience, and kindness can truly change a life. 2.5 year old Marilyn birthed nine puppies. Seven survived and are thriving in their forever homes. Her happy ending was delayed as she was heartworm positive. She has now completed her treatment and is ready to start the life she never got to have before. When we found her, she was skin and bones, barely holding herself together while trying to keep her puppies alive. Today she’s a healthy 70 pounds of gentle devotion — a big girl with an even bigger heart. Despite her size, she carries herself with a calm, easygoing nature that makes her a wonderful companion rather than an overwhelming presence. She’ll happily alert you if someone new arrives at your property (a built-in doorbell, if you will), but beneath that watchful instinct is a total softie who just wants to be close to her people. In fact, Marilyn has one non-negotiable requirement for her future home: bed sharing. Obviously. She gets along with respectful, submissive dogs who don’t crowd her space, and she’s mostly uninterested in cats. What she truly wants, though, is a family of her own — a soft place to land after everything she’s been through. Marilyn survived hardship, raised her babies, beat heartworms, and learned to trust again. Now she’s ready for the part of life that’s just for her: long naps, gentle hands, cozy nights, and a family who will love her forever. This girl has given the world everything she had. Now it’s her turn to receive it. Will you be Marilyn’s forever family?
