About Sophie
Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Sophie is a 1.5-year-old German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix whose story is filled with resilience, hope, and new beginnings. After enduring a tough start in life, Sophie was rescued by a kind neighbor who noticed her being neglected and confined for most of her young life. She hadn't experienced walks, proper care, or enough food, but her spirit never wavered. Now basking in the safety of her foster home at Southpaw Rescue, Sophie is learning about love and building confidence with every new day. Fully vetted—spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped—she's also thriving with her foster family's two dogs, enjoying new experiences, and discovering her playful, affectionate side. Sophie continues to grow more comfortable, showing her sweet nature as she learns leash manners and relishes her new freedoms. Due to her previous experiences, Sophie is understandably hesitant around crates, but with gentle patience and encouragement, she is blossoming into the loyal and devoted friend she was meant to be. Sophie is ready for a family who will give her love, show her the joys of life she missed out on, and help her grow into the happy, confident dog she deserves to be.
