I'm a two-year-old Shepherd mix weighing about 45 pounds, which makes me a pretty perfect medium size — not too big, not too small, just right for curling up next to my person. I recently arrived from the Pine Ridge Reservation, and if you've ever known what people lovingly call a “Rez Dog,”then you might already know... there's just something special about us. It's hard to explain, but there's a kind of quiet magic in our hearts. We're resilient, deeply loyal, and when we love you, we really love you. Before coming here, I had two beautiful puppies to care for. I did my job as a mama, and now that they're all grown up and ready for their own adventures, it's finally my turn to find a family of my very own. I'll be honest — when we first meet, I might seem a little shy and unsure. The world is still a new place for me, and I'm learning that humans can be kind and safe. Because of that, I'll need a patient family who understands that I may take a little time to feel comfortable. But here's the secret: give me about 24 hours. Once I realize I'm safe, I'm all in. My heart opens wide, and I'll love you with everything I've got. I'm still discovering simple joys. Toys are a bit confusing to me right now, and when someone offers me a treat, I sometimes look up like... “Wait... this is for me?” It's the sweetest thing to watch me learn that life can be full of little gifts. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care.
