About Nani
Nani ACCT-A-243830 is an approximately 4-year-old female dog who came in as a stray on 2/25. Nani is a petite, underweight girl at just 31 pounds who is still finding her footing after being found as a stray. Understandably, she can be scared with strangers and may need a little extra time to feel safe. When volunteers first approached her kennel, she was nervous and unsure, but once she was helped out, she showed that she's capable of settling and moving forward. On leash, Nani is calm, and despite her initial nerves, she has shown friendly behavior and did well meeting another dog, Jewel. Once in a quieter room, Nani's personality truly began to shine. She spotted a ball and immediately engaged with it, curling up on a bed and happily chewing while her body visibly relaxed and her tail untucked. With the comfort of her toy, she began approaching volunteers for pets, allowing gentle affection while keeping her prized ball close. Nani would do best with a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time, is mindful around food while she continues to put on weight, and can offer her a calm, reassuring environment. With consistency, kindness, and a few toys to call her own, Nani has all the potential to blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Medical: On 2/25 exam Doctor noted: "Found on Friday. As soon as I showed her the leash, she immediately stopped barking and allowed me to leash her without any issues. Leash Skills: Pulls minimally. Walks closely to her handler while occasionally stopping to sniff. Overall, she walks nicely on leash. Sociability: In the yard, Nani solicited attention multiple times. She allowed all handling and leaned in for pets. She remained loose and wiggly with soft eyes and a mid-wagging tail. Nani is currently on a refeeding plan, so no treats were given during this interaction. Toys and play: Nani engaged in play with tennis balls. We used two tennis balls, alternating throws each time she returned so the next ball was tossed as she came back. She was enthusiastic and interactive during the game. At times, she attempted to take the ball directly from my hands, but overall she played appropriately and engaged nicely with the toys. Returning to kennel: no issues returning to kennel. Dog interaction: Nani had a dog meet with bela vida. Both dogs coexisted in the walk along. Meeting face to fast Bela was a bit pushy with greetings and Nani was more avoidant. Color: experienced gold On 2/25 volunteer noted: "Nani took a minute to get out of her kennel. She backed herself into a corner and gave out a little low growl. Another volunteer was able to lasso her and she came right out. She had a good dog meet with Jewel. We then took Nani into a room and she saw and ball and immediately went for it! She curled up on the bed and chewed the ball. Her body loosened up and her tail became untucked. She'd approach us for pets with a loose body and allowed us to pet her with the ball in her mouth." On 2/25 finder noted: Scared with strangers, slightly nervous and did not want to share space with other animals, normal towards children, hungry and snatchy with treats (use open palm or toss treats on floor), friendly, scared, aggressive towards finder's dog, calm on leash.
