About Paulie

Paulie to the HHPP Family Our newest girl, Paulie, didn’t come to us as a stray. She had a home. She had her person. She was originally supposed to stay “just for a little while” while her owner worked through some hard times… but sometimes life doesn’t go the way we plan, and Paulie was officially surrendered to our care. And you can tell. Paulie is a petite little powerhouse , about 40 pounds, short and compact with the most muscular little build like she’s been secretly training for a bodybuilding competition She’s sturdy, strong, and absolutely adorable. When she comes out of her kennel, she comes out HOT, big energy, lots of emotion. Some of that has shown as reactivity toward other dogs when walking past kennels. But here’s what we see… We see a dog who came from a home and was suddenly placed into a loud, chaotic shelter environment. That’s stressful for any dog , especially one who’s used to a quieter life. There have been a few dogs she doesn’t seem to mind, so it very well could be kennel stress and overstimulation. We can absolutely do a proper dog meet, but at this time we feel she may do best as an only dog where she doesn’t feel the need to protect herself. Now here’s the part that melts us… The second she sees you coming with a leash? It’s tippy tap, tippy tap, tippy tap. Her whole body wiggles. She just wants to be with you. Paulie doesn’t want chaos. She wants her person back. She hasn’t been feeling 100% since arriving , likely nerves and stress , but we are doing everything we can to help her feel safe and settled. Beneath that anxious energy is a kind, gentle little girl who would likely thrive in a home with older, respectful children and a calm environment. She hasn’t been cat tested yet. Dog meets can be arranged. Paulie is the perfect example of how hard shelter life can be on a dog who once had a couch, a routine, and someone to call their own. We would love nothing more than to find her a home where she can decompress and feel secure again. If you’re interested in meeting Paulie, please submit an adoption application to: Healthyheartsproject.org/adopt A team member will reach out within 24–48 hours to schedule a meet and greet. Let’s show Paulie that this chapter isn’t the end of her story — it’s just the beginning of a better one. Located 909 Martin Luther King Blvd., Warren, OH
