Delilah (Didi or Deli for short) was brought to the low cost clinic in Bardstown to be spayed, along with another DLH about same age (5 mos) from the same barn. While her friend, probably not a littermate, was very friendly, Didi definitely was not. She was taken to a foster volunteer the next day, Jan. 1, with her friend who was sickly. Didi was healthy and was spayed and vaccinated. This unusual, strikingly pretty cat remains in foster. From the first day, she liked to stay hidden in a soft, enclosed cat bed. She was petted daily and never tried to bite, but she did not seek interaction with her human in spite of treats, toys, and quiet, non-threatening surroundings. She comes out and walks around more now, but still avoids people, keeping at least 6 feet away. Didi is not a cat that many people would be willing to work with. It may be weeks or months before she becomes socialized. We chose not to return her to the barn home because of her very long fur. It would be impossible to keep her from getting matted to the skin in an outdoor setting where she was never handled.
