About Ayama
EMERGENCY PLACEMENT DEADLINE CLOSE OF BUSINESS SUNDAY MARCH 8, 2026 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION ONLY THROUGH PACC Name: Ayama Animal ID: A889746 Age: 2 years Weight: 66 LBS. Web Link: 24petconnect.com/PimaAdoptablePets/Details/PIMA/A889746 About: Ayama is a stunning, tall, 2-year-old gray mixed breed who is currently looking for an urgent, heart-led placement. This handsome boy has been friendly and outgoing when meeting new people at the shelter; he is a go, go, go kind of guy who prances with joy once he hits the play yard. He already has a head start on his manners with an amazing sit, and he is a world-class leaner who will press against your legs for pets, give kisses, and even offer his paw to hold. Because he is so enthusiastic about life, he does pull strongly on the leash and can be a bit grabby with treats, so he’s looking for a partner who can help him work on his gentle cues and leash skills. Regarding other dogs, Ayama’s situation is unique. While at PACC, he has shown he can get along with others and has successfully shared a kennel space without any issues. However, his previous home reported that he struggled significantly with guarding his food, toys, and his people from the resident dog, which led to altercations. Because of this, Ayama must leave the shelter as the only pet in the home to ensure he is set up for success. The great news is that with proper supervision, he could potentially enjoy social outlets like dog daycare or dog parks for his dog fix. With the right dedicated training and management in the future, he may even be able to live with another dog one day—but for now, he just needs a home where he can be the center of attention while he settles in. If you’re looking for a tall, handsome, and affectionate companion, please come to PACC and ask to meet Ayama today. If he isn’t the perfect match for you, we have over 450 other dogs waiting for a chance to meet you, too. Available for adoption through PACC. Interested parties: Must visit PACC before the COB Sunday March 9, 2026 deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with. Home Management Plan No Other Dogs: • Ayama is not suitable for a home with other dogs. • Reason: resource guards’ food, toys and people from other dogs • Management: They should be the only dog in the household. Avoid dog parks, group walks, or introductions to unfamiliar dogs to maintain safety and reduce stress. • Behaviors could improve with proper management and/or professional training. Severely Injured Another Animal: • Ayama has a documented history of severely injuring another animal. • Incident Details: resource guarding from the other dog in the home.
