Cortez, a 5 month old pittie mix, is a sensitive, gentle soul who is already showing how much he blossoms once he feels safe. On his first evening in foster care, he was understandably shy and anxious. But in just a few short days, he began relaxing, exploring the house, seeking affection, interacting with the resident dog, and even playing with toys. Watching his confidence grow has been such a joy. Cortez free roams indoors during the day with very few accidents and sleeps loose at night. He prefers not to be kenneled, as crates seem to cause him stress. He does best when taken outside regularly and will potty outdoors when given the opportunity. Once comfortable, Cortez is a relaxed and snuggly companion. He walks nicely on leash and has good recall outside. He doesn’t seem to mind other dogs and is open to play at times. Cortez would likely thrive in a low-stress, predictable home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. With patience, reassurance, and a gentle routine, he truly shines.
