SKY, a spirited, hugely affectionate, bright and loving Dogo Argentino, was born deaf, purchased, and then left at a Bedford, NY shelter at only 16-months-old. She endured three months of neglect and mistreatment in that facility, whose owner was arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. A resilient creature who is unbridled joy and loyal companionship, SKY, has put all of that behind her! SKY turn 3 years old on Jan. 28. She is 85 lbs. , spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She communicates perfectly fine via hand signs and her innate connection to humans. SKY is typically playful with other dogs when introduced in one-on-one meet and greets with friendly, non-reactive dogs. Though her prey drive is more curiosity than hunt (she is fascinated by mice and rabbits and has befriend an opossum on our farm!!), cats will be stressful for her as she’s acclimating to a new home. While SKY is polite and appropriate with kids, but will need a few months to create familiarity in the environment. Applicants should consider if they have time to prioritize her and meet her needs, as well as the needs of young family members. SKY loves car rides, meeting new homes, vet visits (!) and lounging next to you on the couch. She is an active dog and will need a dog savvy home. SKY is fostered in Columbia County, NY. For the right home, SKY;s foster family will drive her anywhere in the United States or Canada, after the initial meet and greets at our farm.
