Spayed Female 10 Months Old 49 Pounds $175 Karmella is a 10-month-old spayed female hound mix with a beautiful white, brown, and black coat and a sturdy 49-pound frame. She’s still very much a puppy at heart — curious, affectionate, and eager to figure out her place in the world. Karmella previously lived with an older dog and did well, and she has also lived with cats. She was interested in chasing them, but it appeared to be playful rather than aggressive. As with any dog, slow introductions and supervision will be important — especially since hounds tend to follow their instincts (and their noses!). And speaking of noses — Karmella is all hound. She loves to sniff and explore, and if she catches an interesting scent, she’ll want to follow it. Because of this, she’ll need a secure yard or to be kept on leash at all times outdoors. If given the opportunity, she may take herself on an adventure. This sweet girl is incredibly clingy and affectionate. In her mind, she is absolutely a lap dog and would happily spend her days curled up in your arms if allowed. She craves physical closeness and reassurance. Right now, she’s quite vocal — whining and whimpering when she isn’t being held — but much of that seems to come from being scared and unsure in the shelter environment. In a stable, loving home, her confidence will likely blossom. Leash walking is still new to Karmella, so she’ll need continued guidance to learn how to walk politely without pulling. She’s smart and eager to connect, so with patience and positive reinforcement, she should make great progress. She is mostly housebroken but may still have the occasional accident as she adjusts to a new routine. Karmella would thrive in a home ready for an affectionate, slightly needy, still-learning young dog. She’s looking for someone who will help her build confidence, continue her training, and give her all the cuddles she believes she deserves. At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals! We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.
