Trudy is a tiny 4-year-old Pitbull mix with the cutest little speckled boots you’ve ever seen. Found as a stray in Fairfield, this petite powerhouse has been slowly but surely finding her confidence and it’s been such a joy to watch her blossom. The shelter environment was overwhelming for Trudy at first. She can be easily startled and is especially sensitive to people reaching over her head, putting a leash on, or standing above her. Those moments can make her nervous, and she’ll need a patient adopter who understands that building trust takes time. Once she knows you, though, she greets you at the front of her kennel with a wagging tail. The beautiful part? Trudy is making amazing progress. Once out in the yard, she relaxes, explores, and shows her playful side. She’s agile, athletic, and fast. She would likely excel in dog sports like flyball, disc, or agility. Trudy is very tolerant of handling once she feels safe, but she needs a calm, quiet home committed to continuing her confidence-building journey. No kids and no loud environments, please. She has done well with other dogs (preferring calmer companions) and reportedly did well with a resident cat. However, she was returned for chasing a rabbit, so she will need a home without small pocket pets like rabbits or guinea pigs. Trudy is a special dog who needs a special home—one filled with patience, understanding, and encouragement.
