About Julia

Julia and her companion Lyle are a bonded pair of hounds, both weighing about 50 pounds and estimated to be 5 or 6 years old. After surviving a terrible situation in Wilson, North Carolina, where they lived in dire conditions among dozens of neglected dogs, they arrived at the rescue underweight and battling heartworm and tick-borne disease. With proper treatment, they've recovered, regained their strength, and begun to enjoy life, showing a playful and happy spirit. Julia and Lyle are content in securely fenced yards, don't try to escape, and they sleep calmly in their crates at night and during bad weather. These two walk well together on a leash, even ignoring wildlife that crosses their path. They get along with other dogs and have also learned to be comfortable around cats, thanks to guidance from a resident feral cat. While they haven't been around children, their foster recommends a home with adults or older kids. Julia and Lyle have never experienced a home of their own, so they'll need someone patient and understanding as they transition to family life. They are ready for a safe, loving environment where they can stay together and continue experiencing the good things in life. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
