About Ziz
Hi. I'm Ziz! I'm a short haired brown tabby male born on 8/07/2020. I've been a little extra since the day I was born (literally, my mama rejected me at birth, so I was bottle-raised and have had main character energy ever since). I am not a beginner cat. I'm smart, intense, very opinionated, and I know exactly what I want, and when I want it. I'm extremely food motivated (poultry and red meat are my favorites, seafood is beneath me). I love my twice-daily wet and dry food routine, and I will absolutely remind you if you're late. I also go wild for Churu treats. I'm playful and athletic in short bursts, crinkly balls, wand toys, feather teasers, catnip... I'm in. I love to stalk and pounce. I'm also harness trained, enjoy car rides (seriously, I do), and I've even rocked a kitty stroller. I've had a fully enclosed catio before and really enjoyed lounging outside safely for a few hours at a time. I'm a warmth seeker. Sunbeams, fireplaces, cozy boxes, that's my vibe. I can be moody and easily overstimulated. I prefer affection on my terms and will happily accept head pets, but I'm not a constant cuddlebug. I'm very vocal and expressive, and I don't love closed doors or being told certain areas are off limits. I also tend to bond strongly with one person (I historically prefer women) and want to be the center of attention. I've lived with dogs and another cat before and did okay, though I sometimes liked to stir the pot. That said, I would likely thrive as the only pet in an adult-only home where I can be someone's whole world. Young children are not a good fit for me. When stressed or unhappy, I have struggled with inappropriate urination despite extensive environmental and behavioral interventions. I'm currently on Gabapentin to help with anxiety while I decompress at the sanctuary. Physically, I'm healthy, just a little overweight (I could stand to lose about a pound) and I wheeze if I sprint too far, so I'm strictly indoor-only. I wouldn't know how to survive outside. I need an experienced, patient, cat-savvy human who understands feline behavior, respects boundaries, and is willing to work with me, not against me. Someone calm. Structured. Predictable. Someone who maybe even appreciates a little spice. In the right home, with the right person, I believe I can continue to make progress. I'm already starting to chill out more each day at the sanctuary. If you're the kind of person who sees a challenge and thinks, "I've got you," we might just be a match.
