Meet Toad, an almost two year old sweetheart with the softest soul and the kindest heart. This boy has been through more in his short life than most dogs ever experience, yet he still chooses gentleness, love, and connection every single day. Toad came to us as a tiny puppy after being left in a stranger’s front yard, critically ill and fighting for his life. He underwent emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction and made a remarkable recovery. We truly thought his hard days were behind him when he was adopted, but when he was unexpectedly returned, Toad came back to us scared and shut down, unsure if the world was safe anymore. With patience, consistency, and the support of a board and train program, Toad has been rediscovering who he really is. And who he is underneath that fear is pure gold. He is incredibly sweet, deeply loyal, and quietly affectionate. He bonds strongly with his people, wants nothing more than to feel safe, and absolutely melts once he trusts you. Watching his confidence grow day by day has been one of the most beautiful transformations. He is ready now. Ready for a calm, loving home. Ready for someone who sees into his heart. Ready to give his whole self to the person who finally chooses him for good.
