About Luke
Luke’s Story: A Christmas Miracle! Luke is about 1 year old and as adorable as they come! This sweet, gentle mixed-breed boy may have some Catahoula Leopard Dog or Australian Shepherd in him—we’re not entirely sure, but whatever the mix, it created one very special pup. On Christmas Day, Luke was found hiding under a garbage bin, suffering from massive injuries after what appeared to be a serious animal attack (possibly dogs or coyotes). He was bleeding heavily and fighting for his life. Thanks to quick action and incredible veterinary care—including surgeries, drainage tubes, and extended medical treatment—Luke survived. And not only did he survive… he THRIVED. Today, Luke is fully healed, healthy, and full of playful energy. His resilience is nothing short of amazing. Despite everything he endured, he remains incredibly sweet-natured and loving. He adores toys and is happiest when he has something to carry around or toss in the air. Playtime is his favorite! Luke’s past does not define him—his joyful spirit does. He’s ready to leave his difficult beginning behind and start the next chapter of his life with a family who will cherish him forever. Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process and our adoption application. *** Email adoptadog@STAF.org for next steps! *** • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots. • We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
