About Chorizo

Meet Chorizo, a stunning one-year-old, 40-pound spayed female Shepherd mix with a show-stopping white and black coat and the softest, slightly wavy fur along her back. This beautiful girl turns heads wherever she goes-but it's her heart that truly makes her shine. Chorizo is the total package: sweet, loving, cuddly, and fiercely loyal. She's fully housetrained, leash trained, crate trained, and knows her basic commands. She's also highly food motivated, which means any future training should be a breeze. She sleeps quietly overnight and currently takes naps in her crate, but with a little encouragement, she'd happily adjust to your preferred routine. She's been left home alone for a few hours at a time and shows no signs of anxiety or destructiveness-just a trustworthy, well-mannered girl waiting for her people to return. Playtime is where Chorizo's joyful spirit truly sparkles. Fetch is her absolute favorite way to celebrate any day of the year-balls are everything to her. Inside or outside, playing with you or entertaining herself, balls simply make her happy. (Did we mention she lives for balls?) She also enjoys running and currently clocks about two miles every other day. She'd love to jog with you or even run alongside your bicycle. That said, she believes in balance-energetic play sessions are perfectly paired with quality cuddle time on the couch. Chorizo is wonderful with other dogs and children, and she politely ignores cats she passes on walks. She's not even fazed by the neighborhood peacocks! Give her a stuffed animal (with the exception of her beloved stuffed chicken), and she'll proudly de-fluff it in record time-usually right in front of you. At bedtime, she snuggles up with her cherished stuffed chicken, a favorite chew toy, and of course, her treasured balls. Originally adopted as a tiny puppy, Chorizo recently found herself back at San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA) due to circumstances beyond her control. She grew-A LOT-and her elderly adopters simply couldn't keep up with her puppy energy or lift her into the bathtub anymore. Despite the unexpected change, Chorizo has maintained her sunny outlook and loving spirit. She's ready to start her next chapter with a family who can match her activity level and embrace all the affection she has to give. Chorizo would thrive in a home with children or active adults who will include her in adventures and then welcome her in for snuggles. She's a joyful, devoted companion with so much love to give-just waiting for her forever home.
