Meet Flora! Flora is a 10 month old German Shepherd mix currently weighing about 47 pounds. This beautiful girl has a striking coat with white markings and is right in that wonderful adolescent stage still very much a puppy, but starting to grow into herself. Flora has already stolen hearts everywhere she’s been. When she arrived at the Stanislaus Animal Servicess in mid-February as a stray, staff quickly fell in love with her gentle and sweet nature. Despite the shelter being overcrowded and her landing on the euthanasia list, the team described her as incredibly deserving of a second chance. Since coming into foster care in the San Francisco area, she has continued to show what a loving, good-natured girl she is. She is good with other dogs, and while she is still working on her house training, she is making progress. Cats are currently unknown. Flora’s story is one we see far too often a young, loving dog without a safety net. When we saw her plea, we couldn’t stop thinking about her. With the help of our amazing community, we were able to pull together support and secure a foster so she could leave the shelter behind and begin her new chapter. It has only been a few days since she gained her freedom, but she is already showing us how ready she is to love and be loved. We expect Flora to fill out into a beautiful medium-to-large Shepherd mix as she matures. She is not yet spayed but has an appointment scheduled, and she will receive full vetting, including vaccinations and microchip, prior to adoption. As a young Shepherd, she will thrive with continued structure, training, and mental enrichment to help her grow into a confident adult. Flora is looking for an adopter who understands the needs of a young working-breed mix someone patient, active, and committed to continuing her training. A home that will provide guidance, consistency, and plenty of love will help her truly blossom. She has been given a second chance at life, and now she’s ready for her forever family to help her write the rest of her story.
