Meet Bonnie, a beautiful 10-month-old Boxer mix who weighs 35 lbs. This sweet girl has a heart as big as her bounce! She’s healthy, happy, and bursting with playful puppy energy. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate companion who will happily join you for adventures and then curl up for snuggles afterward, she’s your girl. Before coming into rescue, she and her brother, Clyde, survived on their own for several months and experienced severe starvation and neglect. Because of that, they developed some food-related resource guarding - but, only towards other dogs, never people. She is completely comfortable with people of all ages around her food and toys. You can hand-feed her treats, add food to her bowl or take it away from her completely, even while she’s eating, and pick up her toys without any issue at all. She has miraculously always been gentle and very trusting with people.  Her only concern is making sure that other dogs don’t take her food, especially her brother. We think they found themselves in situations where they had to fight over every piece of food they could find, just to survive. Since being rescued, she has been in a foster home with several other dogs who have similar backgrounds and they have found that she does wonderfully when fed in her own crate. Having her own safe, quiet space to eat allows her to relax and enjoy her meals without worry. Outside of mealtimes, she is a typical older puppy and is happy to play, explore, and lounge around with all other dogs and her people.  She is very resilient, loving, and highly intelligent, ready for a fresh start with a family who understands that a little structure at mealtime helps her feel secure. She’s going to make an incredible companion, all she needs now is a forever home where she’ll always know she’s loved and safe - and will never be hungry again.
