UPDATE: Ella could not be spayed because the vet determined she has an enlarged heart and did not want to put her under anesthesia. She has no symptoms of heart failure and seems to be healthy otherwise. Her sores have healed and her ear infections are under control. We are looking for someone who is willing to take her with her heart condition and give her the happy life she has never known until now. She is up to date on flea/heartworm preventative, vaccines, heartworm test and worming and has been recently groomed. We will waive the adoption fee to the angel who will give her the love and attention she deserves. Ella is about 4 years old and 18 lbs. She was a last minute add on from a transport of surrendered breeder dogs. We agreed to take her in and are we ever thankful we did! As you can see from the "before" pictures she was terribly matted and stinky. It was a bit of a challenge to cut through the matting and shave it off. She was an angel through it all and that made the job do-able. She had sores underneath the matting so I'm sure she had been that way for years. The worst part though was her ears. Both ears very infected and very inflamed and very painful. We have been giving her medicated baths, putting ointment on the sores on her legs and cleaning/treating her ear infections. Since she has been getting so much attention due to her condition, she has also learned to like being handled by people. She is still a bit shy and not very sure about what you want from her, but she is making progress in leaps and bounds. She has a sweet temperament and has shown no aggression at all through the ordeal. She is good with other dogs and would do great in a home with another friendly dog to teach her the ropes. This little Cinderella is turning into a beauty and a happy pup right before our eyes.
