About Nikko
Nikko has had a rough road, moving through several homes in just a couple of years, but still wants nothing more than to bond deeply with someone and belong for good. He’s a small, tricolor Australian Shepherd with a long soft coat who keeps his eyes glued to his person, always loyal and seeking connection. Nikko is house trained, kennel trained, and knows how to sit. He’s happiest when he can snuggle at the foot of the bed or hop in the car for a ride. He thrives playing with other dogs, and being around them brings out his social side. Cats are a definite no—he will bark and chase, so he must have a cat-free home. Nikko forms close attachments, especially with women, and can be wary of men who come into the home unexpectedly. He’s protective of his chosen person and sometimes gets overstimulated by new visitors or a busy environment, so a calm household with minimal outside traffic suits him best. Experience with Australian Shepherds is helpful, as Nikko has some typical “herding” quirks and separation anxiety after so much upheaval. He likes to herd people during excitement and barks at men he feels aren’t supposed to be home, but with stability, he relaxes over time. While he loves children, he’d do best living with adults and another friendly dog or two. Nikko is neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He’s ready for a steady, loving home where he won’t have to start over again. Apply if you want a loyal sidekick who just needs someone in his corner. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
