He is naturally protective and makes an excellent companion for someone wanting a steady, one-person dog who takes his job seriously. Scout is kennel trained, leash trained, and has lived in a home where he proved to be house trained. He rides well in the car and absolutely loves tagging along for errands or farm chores. Scout enjoys playing fetch and thrives when he has both physical and mental work to do. He has been worked on cows and understands livestock, making him a solid farm partner for someone who appreciates the intelligence and drive of a Heeler. He does well with other dogs as long as they respect his space and aren’t constantly in his face. Like many Heelers, he prefers structure and clear boundaries.
