About Kennedy

What a cuddle bug! Kennedy is estimated to be about 5 years old and is 44 pounds of pure love. Sweet, sweet Kennedy is truly a love muffin and quite simply, amazing. This poor girl came to us with a serious face wound and was heartworm positive, she went through so much, yet you will not find a kinder soul. She is a happy wiggle butt who's only care is to be close to you. Kennedy is gentle, well-mannered and just kind of a low-key type of dog. We think she would prefer a quieter, more predictable type home where any children are at least 8 years old with her calm, quiet nature. Now that her face has healed and she has finished her heartworm treatment, she is more than ready to find her forever family, to be loved and return that love with more snuggles than you can imagine. Kennedy would be so excited if you came to meet her, she really is a treasure. One of our wonderful volunteers fostered Kennedy and has so many nice things to say about her: Kennedy is sweet, silly, docile, gentle, adaptable and easy-going. She easily and quickly adjusted to the routine at our house. She loves new people and greets everyone with a wag and with a face that says, “please like me”. She is definitely a girl that loves being in her human’s bubble! We have a little chihuahua/pug mix (named Tootsie, age 12) and Kennedy was absolutely wonderful with her. Tootsie can be very dramatic and yet Kennedy never reacted to Tootsie’s drama. In fact, Kennedy seemed to understand Tootsie was just unsure and needed time. I gave them treats at the same time and Kennedy sat and politely waited her turn. (Also, she takes treats SO gently! She is not a grabber.) And we have toys just out in the living room and when Tootsie would go after a toy, Kennedy wasn’t at all bothered or jealous. Kennedy is curious and loves sniffing everything on walks. She definitely likes the snow and will stick her full face into a pile of snow! She is a great walker, but she is very interested in the squirrels and deer – though she responds very well to “leave it”. I had her in the yard and didn’t realize there were deer nearby (we live in the woods); the deer ran and she wanted to run after them. Thankfully, I had her on a leash but I’m not sure “leave it” would be enough to stop her from chasing deer, so if you live in the country, a fence would be great. Kennedy is trusting, happy and unassuming. She loves doing activities, loves playtime, and also loves cuddles. One of my favorite times with her was getting up early and sitting on the couch with her – just the two of us before the rest of the house woke up. She was curled up to my side with my arm around her, just enjoying the morning and the moment. If you are interested in Kennedy and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
