About Cardboard
Meet Cardboard! Female | 5 months | Spayed | UTD on vaccines including rabies | dewormed | microchipped | FeLV/FIV negative Little Cardboard came into our org in December after being brought into a rural spay/neuter clinic. She was fixed that day but quickly they realized both her and her sibling needed further care with a rescue for some post op surgical complications. Her sibling sadly did not make it beyond 24 hours and Cardi B ended up with a substantial amount of air in her stomach with an emergency trocharization procedure being performed. She then developed ileus and her foster mom continued with intensive supportive care measures. In a positive turn of events Cardboard recovered incredibly, however, due to her challenging start on the streets she remained a bit apprehensive of people. Her foster mom has been working tirelessly with her to socialize and she has made incredible strides. Foster mom very quickly realized our girl is extremely food motivated and they've since developed a budding little relationship. Another huge win for Cardboard was getting to be fostered with our Cryptkid litter that's just 1 month younger than her. Kraken & Nessie are still in foster with her and she would love the chance to be adopted into a home with other cats or even with another kitten or two. Temperament wise with her being a bit on the shy side of new people she's not going to be that cat that you can carry around and hold when you please, things are very much on *her terms*. That said, she loves lounging next to her foster mom on the couch and quite literally "glaring" at her for food 24/7. She also is a big yapping and will chirp endlessly about treats or when her food bowl is low. All of this to say, just because she doesn't love to be held doesn't mean she can't make a great companion that you will keep you entertained for many years to come. She just needs the right home to give her a chance and be patient! <3 If you are open to be a unicorn triple kitten adopter we would be over the moon for Cardboard to be able to be adopted with Kraken and Nessie. Their personalities are 100% opposite of hers aside from also being little foodies. They are true velcro kittens through and through and expect to snuggle with you 100% of the time. We realize this is a big ask so if you are that unicorn adopter our org is happy to waive Cardboard's adoption fee if adopted in the trio. <3 If you'd like to see more content of any of our felines you can check out our founders socials on Instagram @deejandthecats & @floofandtoebeans. Cardboard's intake videos are on there as well. The adoption fee for a single kitten is $150 while a pair is $250. ____ Interested in Adopting? Complete our Adoption Application on our Profile Page (click the “Visit Our Profile Page” button below). We do not evaluate inquiries. Please read below before applying: We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis. Our priority is finding the best match for each cat or kitten. Applicants interested in adopting a pair of kittens are typically given higher priority. Due to concerns about Single Kitten Syndrome (SKS), young kittens are not eligible for solo adoption unless there is already a young kitty of similar energy in the home. What is Single Kitten Syndrome? Single Kitten Syndrome occurs when young kittens are adopted alone. Without a feline playmate, they may develop behavioral issues such as: • Aggression or anxiety • Inappropriate chewing or scratching • Litter box avoidance • Difficulty adjusting to new pets or children later in life While not all single kittens experience these challenges, it’s a common reason cats are rehomed later. The best way to prevent SKS is to adopt kittens in pairs or ensure there’s already a playful, compatible cat in the home.
