About Willy
Willy is an 8-year-old dachshund mix who has been through a lot—and come out the other side softer and more trusting. He came to rescue after being surrendered, and while the shelter rattled him to his core, foster care gave him time to settle and rediscover simple comforts. Once he realized things could be predictable and calm again, Willy’s real personality appeared: he’s gentle, keeps his distance until he’s ready, and is happiest just being near his person. He’s house trained, doesn’t mind a crate (though he’d rather skip it), and keeps to a mellow routine. Willy may be almost blind, but you’d never guess it when you see him confidently make his way around the yard or enjoy a patch of sun. He enjoys getting brushed and does well with dogs, cats, and even chickens. His dream home is a peaceful one—probably sharing space with a retired person or someone who enjoys a slow pace. Willy startles easily so a home without children suits him best. He doesn’t need much, just a spot to belong and someone to trust him. Born April 13th, Willy is an Aries, and true to his sign, he’s quietly determined and independent. Now that Willy’s learned to trust again, he just wants to live out his golden years knowing he’s safe and cherished. Start your journey together! Apply now.

Questions about Willy
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Willy, as a dachshund mix, generally thrives in quieter, predictable homes. These small breeds adapt well to both apartments and houses, especially when there’s a peaceful atmosphere and plenty of companionship.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Dachshund mixes like Willy don’t require a huge yard but appreciate a safe outdoor area to sniff and explore at their own pace. Even small yards or regular leashed walks are enough to keep them happy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Willy’s breed can be tolerant with gentle, respectful children but, in Willy’s case, a home without children is best due to his tendency to startle and need for a calm environment.
