About Lago

Lago is a soft-hearted young Pit Bull Terrier mix who started her journey abandoned by a lake, hungry and searching for affection. When rescue found her, she took in eight cans of sardines and quickly showed how eager she was for care. Though she arrived emaciated, she bounced back with proper meals and now weighs in at a healthy forty-two pounds. She’s crate trained and finds reassurance in having a safe, cozy crate, though her foster family wishes she could have more time out and about. Lago knows basic commands like sit and is spayed and fully vaccinated. Playtime is her favorite, even if her playful growls sound alarming to outsiders—it’s just her way of getting the hang of toys. She likes tug-of-war, is learning fetch, and is curious about all the fun things a real home can offer. Lago gets excited to walk and is responsive on leash. She loves to cuddle, sometimes trying to squeeze onto your lap for comfort, favoring close contact over lounging separately. She adapts around cats—if they swat her, she keeps her respectful distance. Lago, though sweet, would probably thrive best as the only dog, without kids, where she can soak up focused attention and patience as she learns what it means to truly be safe in a home. Her rescuers can help transport her anywhere in the US for the right family or compassionate foster, hoping to spare her the stress of going back to a shelter after she’s come so far.
