About Lago
This is a message about this beautiful soul we found. I call this sweet baby Lago because she was found by a lake, chasing the car and begging for someone to care for her. That day she ate about 8 tins of sardines, (always stocked for any stray/dumped pups who tend to find us). She was clearly dumped there by a previous owner because she knows how to sit and she is spayed. She was absolutely starving when we found her, skin and bones and emaciated and she followed us for food and love. We took her to the vet the next day and she is 100% healthy and now vaccinated. She is crate trained (highly recommend using when leaving her alone in the house and for sleeping, because she was likely an outside dog). She needs to learn to be in a loving household and to feel safe. She is definitely getting there but she still gets nervous sometimes. She is about 42lbs now that she’s been fattened up a bit and she’s about 2 years old. Her bark and growl sound absolutely viscous when she plays (still learning what toys are- loves tug of war- learning fetch and ball), even though the growls sound scary, she is playing and still wagging her tail. (Sneezing during play is one of the ways dogs reassure you that it’s still fun, not serious.) She generally walks well on a leash and responds to leash commands. She is a giant cuddle bug and will sit directly on your lap even if there is a bed or space next to you. She simply needs a safe loving and quiet environment. We are fostering her currently, but unfortunately, she is not accepted by our dogs, so we keep them separated, which means a lot (too much) crate time for her and a lot of stress for us. When she is out, she interacts with our cats… she is interested in them but the cats always swat her away and she obeys their command. Please contact me if interested in giving this baby a home. She has 1 week to find an owner of a loving foster willing to give her a second chance. Otherwise there is space at a "no kill" shelter that opened up last May. We don’t want to see her in a shelter after getting so much time and care with us. We don’t know for sure but she’d likely do best in a home as a single dog without children. ***Will to transport to anywhere in the US for the right home. She is a good girl! If Lago sounds like a fit for you, please reach out!
