About Harlem
https://foha.org/pet/harlem2026/ Meet Harlem ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi there! I'm Harlem, your future handsome houndie sidekick. I'm a gentle soul with a big heart. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but don't worry - I warm up, especially if you toss a treat my way. Food is definitely the way to my trust... and honestly, to my heart. Once I know you're a friend, I absolutely love chest and chin rubs. I'm a mostly calm walker who enjoys taking in the world on a loose leash, sniff by sniff. Every now and then, I can't resist breaking into a joyful little frolic - because even soulful hounds have their silly moments. Loud noises can still startle me, but I recover quickly. I just need someone patient who understands that confidence grows with time, love, and consistency. What I'm really looking for is a home with a predictable routine, something that helps me feel safe while I continue blossoming into the best houndie boy I can be. If you're kind, gentle, and willing to give me the time I need to build trust, I promise I'll give you my whole heart in return. HOW AM I WITH DOGS: Unknown - FOHA can schedule a dog introduction to see if we're a good match. HOW AM I WITH CATS: Unknown - ask my friends at FOHA to conduct a cat test. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: I would likely do best with gentle, respectful children who understand that I can be a little sensitive and appreciate slow introductions. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: Still learning! I'm treat-motivated and eager to build confidence through positive training. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Still learning my routine, consistency and structure will help me succeed. THINGS I LIKE: Treats, chest and chin rubs, calm walks, sniffing adventures, gentle affection, and quiet companionship. THINGS I STRUGGLE WITH: Sudden loud noises and brand-new situations - I just need patience and reassurance while I adjust.
