AvailableMaxwell is a large, white and red/cream mixed breed dog in Rocky Mount, VA. At 8 years and 2 months old, he is a neutered male and his vaccinations are up to date. Maxwell prefers to be the only dog in the home and has shown remarkable resilience after recovering from a leg amputation.
About Maxwell
Maxwell is about 7 years old, and he’s already faced more challenges than most dogs do in a lifetime. As a puppy, he suffered a leg injury that was never treated—years of pain and hardship followed. After extensive efforts and consultations, the only real solution was to amputate the leg. The adjustment came naturally for Maxwell, probably because he’d been relying on three legs for so long already. Now, without the pain slowing him down, he moves freely and seems genuinely relieved. You’ll find him soaking up attention from people, tossing toys around, relishing his walks or playful splashes in the water, and settling down for a nap on a soft, cozy bed. He’s got plenty of love to give, but he strongly prefers to be an only pet; other dogs aren’t his thing. If you can see the heart beneath his tough story—a dog who’s managed to keep his loyal, loving personality through everything—Maxwell is waiting for the comfort and safety he’s never had. Questions about Maxwell
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Maxwell, as a large mixed-breed dog, will do best in a home where he gets attention, regular routine, and a comfortable resting space. A peaceful household without other dogs is ideal for him.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Large mixed-breed dogs like Maxwell benefit from a yard or nearby park but don't need a massive property. Daily walks and a spot to lounge outside are more important than size alone.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Maxwell's breed mix generally adapts to homes with children, but since Maxwell prefers a quiet life and has specific needs, older kids or teens who respect his space would be a better fit.
