About Socks
Socks came to us from a rural shelter with her sister. Because our foster organization in Myrtle Beach, SC reached out to Diamond Dogs Rescue with these two pups and told us there was no longer an option for them at the shelter, and the next day would be their last day, you are now being introduced to the first of our pair of sisters. This girl being Socks. The idea that both girls were born in the shelter and a year and a half later they were still living there and scheduled for their last day broke my heart. The idea that she was 1) heart worm positive (I can't even believe they did not provide the girls with preventative), 2) Obese from lack of exercise for 1.5 years, 3) unsure of what was going on and was not confident with her new found freedom at the day care/boarding facility and, 4) she was clueless about toys and playing.......AND YET, the fact that she is still super sweet with staff and anxious to please speaks volumes about Socks. This is all it took for me to know that both these girls belonged in our rescue. We could not even imagine that they were born in the shelter and never found adopters as sweet little puppies! That they were left crated in a closet might well have been the problem. But, since she's been in day care and learned about caring, playing and freedom she has blossomed. Playing with toys was new and fun! Being with other dogs was also fun. She's not the same dog she was! Once she's completed her heart worm treatment she will be ready for her family- Reach out to us and maybe you can begin her restricted activity at home where she will learn she is loved and has a family just in time for the completion of her treatment.
