Once safely indoors, Tux let us see the truth: he’s a soft, gentle soul who was just doing what he had to do to survive. The “tough alley cat” act melted away, replaced by a sweet boy who leans into pets, relaxes into comfort, and is slowly but surely learning that couches are much better than concrete. Tux is FIV+, which means he has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Before you worry — cats with FIV can live long, happy, completely normal lives. FIV is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds (the kind that happen in serious cat fights), not through sharing bowls, grooming, or snuggling.
