About Smokey
Smokey is a striking young pit bull terrier with a lot to offer. In his foster home in Charlotte, NC, he's proven to be a quiet dream in his crate, happy to chew bones and tackle frozen treat puzzles. Walks are a pleasure with Smokey—he's easy on leash, pays attention to his handler, and shows little reactivity when he sees other dogs passing by. He's house trained, learns quickly, and is highly food motivated. In just a few days, he's picked up commands like Place, Touch, and Stay. Smokey needs to be the only pet in the home. He doesn't quite grasp dog social cues and lacks some impulse control, which can lead to him getting mouthy and grabbing things that aren't toys. While he's easily redirected with guidance, this tendency means he isn't a fit for homes with small children or inexperienced owners. Smokey needs experienced owners who can keep building his social skills and provide direction. He's not one to bark unnecessarily and prefers a calm environment with people who give him structure and patience. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
