About Arthur
** Please contact the foster at, meghan.shew@yahoo.com** HW Negative Has significant hair loss and itchy skin. He’ll need medicated baths once a week to help his skin heal and keep him comfortable. 100% housetrained, no accidents or marking. He will clearly alert you when he needs to go out. Wonderful on leash! He walks at a relaxed pace, checks in with you often, and doesn’t react to other dogs. When you come back inside, he waits patiently and waits for you to take his leash off. Not a picky eater at all — happily eats dry food and takes his medication easily when mixed into a little wet food. Cat friendly! He was swatted by the resident cat and didn’t react — just looked a little sad that the cat didn’t want to be friends. Came to the shelter with his sister, Joy, and seems to really enjoy canine companionship. He would likely do very well in a home with another dog. Spent a few days in foster with three other dogs and was relaxed and comfortable having them around. Currently learning how to play with toys — it’s very sweet to watch! During the day, he prefers lounging on the couch over his dog bed. At bedtime, he takes a few minutes to settle because he’d love to be in bed with you, but he does settle into his own bed and sleeps through the night. Loves to sleep in! I’ve had to wake him up in the mornings for potty breaks. Not a big fan of the elevator, but he goes in without issue. Once inside, he may give you a little bark as if to say, “What is this thing?!” He may bark or cry briefly when you leave (it’s only been one day), but this should improve as he learns the routine and feels secure. Goes up stairs just fine, but can be a little clumsy coming back down. Calming dog music seems to soothe him when he’s feeling itchy or restless. While I work from home, I leave cartoons on and he happily naps on the couch most of the day. Has a funny little habit of stealing shoes, but he doesn’t destroy them. He just brings them to his bed and sits with them.
